Abbas expects to meet Netanyahu
The Guardian reports that Israel has condemned Turkey’s human rights record in response to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s comments yesterday criticising Israel’s “racist and discriminatory” treatment of Palestinians. The Israeli Foreign Ministry tweeted:” Those who systematically violate human rights in their own country shouldn’t preach to the region’s only true democracy.”
The Guardian reports that British Jihadi Aine Lesley Daves has been convicted in Turkey on terrorism charges and jailed for seven and a half years.

The comments were made during a press conference held with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who visited Ramallah yesterday.

Yediot Ahronot and Maariv report on the aftermath of Turkish President Erdoğan’s comments about Israel. President Reuven Rivlin responded to Erdogan’s statements that Israel was “judaising” Jerusalem by saying “Even under the Ottoman empire there was a Jewish majority in Jerusalem.”
