IDF Southern Commander Maj. Gen. Shlomo Turjeman said,  “This is a terrorist industry for all intents and purposes, which includes people who rent houses and land, planners, diggers and engineers.  Hamas invests tens of millions of dollars in developing the tunnels instead of investing them in the population, in building houses and schools, in jobs and in industry.  It cynically takes advantage of our willingness to let construction materials into the Gaza Strip for the benefit of the population.”
