Hamas hangs Israeli ‘spies’

[ssba]

The Hamas authorities in Gaza yesterday hanged two Gazan men who were convicted of spying for Israel, according to a press release issued by the interior ministry of the Hamas regime in Gaza. The men were aged 60 and 29. According to human rights organisations, Hamas have executed five people since the 2007 coup that gave it exclusive control in Gaza. Another seventeen ‘informers’ were executed in vigilante style shootings by Hamas during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza in 2009. Members of the families of the two executed men held a protest following the hangings, in which a road was blocked and tires were burnt.
